About Gemmistress
Gemmistress is an Australian Lapidary artist based on the Gold Coast, Queensland. I specialise in faceting precision cut, natural gemstones.
Hello and thank you for following me on Instagram and Facebook.
Many of you have been following my journey for a long time now and the evolution of "Gemmistress" is another exciting chapter in my life.
I've always loved gems. Even as a little girl I had a gemstone collection. My grandmother used to bring me back pieces for my collection from all around Australia on her travels in the the family caravan.
I had an amazing career as a Leading Soloist Ballerina. It was here that I fell in love with travelling, jewellery, diamond tiaras and anything that sparkles! After my ballet career, I took to the skies as a flight attendant working many years for several airlines. This career was then followed by years in sales and marketing for a worldwide Vacation Club.
I have been faceting gems for over 5 years now and cut gems on my Australian made "Gemmasta" faceting machine. I figured that if my machine is called a Gemmasta then I must be called the Gemmistress! That's how my name was created.
As the world recently changed and my busy career stood still, my priorities in life changed. A tiny spark of a dream became a reality and Gemmistress now has the opportunity to shine!
Regards, Shelly.
Reviews
-Thanks very much for your time and effort. Much appreciated the special gifts you have helped to create on behalf of Mum and Dad that have been passed around the family, Lisa
-Shelly has been an absolute pleasure to deal with. It can be daunting sending away your hard found stones, but I feel very safe with sending them away to Shelly. She made sure to include us during the stone shaping and planning processes and has been sending update photos along the way (which we love!). I'm so happy to have found her, especially because she loves what she does and you can see that in the perfect sparkly stones that she sends back. She gets a 10/10 from us! Jaime and Camille
-Ohhhh wow!!!! I totally love it. The colour is so subtle yet with the beautiful cuts it is simply dazzling with refracting light.
Thank you so much for cherishing my idea and delivering something so special.
I am going to adore wearing it, Georgina

CAN YOU CUT MY OWN GEM ROUGH?
Sometimes people go fossicking and are lucky to find a rough gem worth faceting. Occasionally, Gemmistress may take on a special gem cutting request if time allows. However, Gemmistress is not a bulk gem cutting service.
Please understand that Gemmistress can only make this decision once the gem rough has been inspected and consultation has taken place for an agreed price.
Please consider that not all stones are able to be faceted.
All stones have unique characteristics that can influence the outcome of gem cutting. Gem faceting comes with risks. No guarantee can be provided with respect to the outcome of a faceted gem. All care and attention will be provided but in some cases even this will not be enough to produce an optimal outcome. All stones provided to Gemmistress are faceted at your own risk.
CAN YOU MAKE MY GEM INTO JEWELLERY?
At this stage, Gemmistress only offers the sale of loose gems. Please email me if you would like a few jewellery design suggestions for your purchased gem. Hopefully in the future I may be able to offer bespoke jewellery pieces, watch this space!
